Christ the Redeemer

Christ the Redeemer stands 30 metres tall atop Corcovado mountain inside the Tijuca National Park, Rio de Janeiro. The statue draws over 2.8 million visitors to the summit each year, making the Corcovado sector of the park the most visited section of any national park in Brazil. Rising demand has prompted a multi-year infrastructure investment programme and an ongoing debate about public versus church management of the site.

Movement through central areas is slow — expect to dodge and wait. Lines at major sights routinely exceed 1–2 hours without pre-booking. Iconic views are difficult to photograph without crowds in frame. Local residents have publicly raised concerns about visitor volume.
