Plitvice Lakes

A chain of sixteen karst lakes connected by waterfalls in the forested mountains of central Croatia, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1979. Visitor numbers have grown to nearly 1.5 million a year, pushing the park to introduce hourly caps, timed online ticketing and tiered seasonal pricing to protect the tufa formations.
